Ikonostasis

Ikonostasis - the Icon Corner (Greek: Ikonostasi) is a small worship space prepared in the homes of Eastern Orthodox. The work deals with notion of meaningfulness and meaninglessness in the everyday life in conjunction with the idea of the religious alter.

Ikonostasis boxes are hung on the wall next to each other. They are ordered in a line higher than the eye level of an average person. The structure applies the authority and feeling of an altar. Each wooden box has a doorframe that contains an image. The images are printed on transparent material, and each box contains a candle behind the picture that illuminates it and connects the viewer with the image.
